I don't believe the Greatest Liar

And for "Best Actor Award of the Year," the Oscar goes to...

Yes, Prime Monster T. S. of Thailand!!!

Do you know he also garners the "Liar of the Century," "Most Corrupt PM in Thailand's History," "Most Arrogant World Leader," "Greatest Legally-appointed Tyrant," "Most Skillful and Unsuspected Robber," and "World's Most Stupid Narcissus" awards?

Half a decade of most disgraceful, most notorious, most obnoxious, most unforgettable, and most unforgivable performances came to a sudden pause last night (Tuesday April 4, 2006). The Square-faced Potty Mouth announced his stepping aside or "a break from politics." It was NOT resignation--not anything like that.

In the meantime, 65 million Thais--non-believers, skeptics, and fools alike--will have to put up with a proxy shadowy PM and the same old corrupt cabinet.

So, practically, nothing has changed. The tyrant is still in power. And we can expect more unexpected--yet predictable--performances from this most cunning illusionist in the very near future.

The country will still be run by the same corrupt group of traitors who will continue to implement their plans. The allotment of the country goes on as scheduled.

There's no way to stop "Thaksinocracy" except the death of its founder. Then, the party that drew in hungry vampires will automatically disintegrates. The congregation of hell beasts will dissolve.

I am willing to predict that the man who brought such disgrace into Thai politics will die horribly and horrifically at the hand of an assassin or a suicide bomber. For the sake of the country and for the better future of the people, it is the only way. I don't know who, when, where, and how, but I know WHY. It doesn't matter how long it will take for this to come true. The damage he has done, and can continue to bring, to the country is deep, thorough, and almost irreparable. For the most righteous revenge, even forever is not too long to wait. My fellow countrymen and I will be awaiting that good news. The country will erupt in joy and celebration of the demise of the worst PM in our history.

A Long Way to Go

One thing I have to accept: there is a very long way to go before Thailand can be fully democratic.

Most Thais are uneducated and poor. The first concern in their lives is earning enough to support themselves and their families. Democracy is never their main concerns, and fighting graft is far from their worries. With this fact, vote buying will definitely be here to stay.

The lack of morality may be the roots of all evils. Claiming to be Buddhists, they hardly observe even the most basic of the Lord Buddha's teachings. And so, corruption and bribery, promiscuity and spouse cheating, drinking, wife battering, rapes and sexual abuses of children and women, the spread of HIV, and senseless and merciless killings will likely go on.

Laws are always abused and are merely jokes. There are double standards for everything--one applies only to the rich, famous, and powerful; the other is for everyone else. And as long as law enforcement officers still sell themselves to money, this, too, will go on forever.

The lack of historical hardships may have contributed to the Thais' care-free attitudes. This fact makes them lazy and leads to the lack of ambition. My parents are one perfect example. Highly educated but too easy-going and hardly ambitious, they were not as successful as they could have been.

Thais are so peace-loving and easy-going, some time to the point of negligence. "It's okay" and "never mind" are the most prevalent attitude. About corruption, they'd say, "It's okay. These corrupt politicians can't take the money with them when they die." Or they'd say, "It's okay. Karma will serve them right." In other words, Thais do not want to take actions, they much rather leave everything to "fate." How convenient!

As far as I can see, before the end of my natural life maybe, Thailand will still maintain our status as one of the most corrupt and underdeveloped countries of the world, despite any makeup we put on or any self-denial we feed ourselves.
